Nicholas Abi-Samra President Electric Power & Energy Consulting (EPEC)
Nicholas (Nick) Abi-Samra, President, Electric Power & Energy Consulting (EPEC), is experienced in equipment failure analysis, system disturbance investigations and extreme weather resiliency. He also experienced in power system planning, operations and maintenance from power generation, through transmission and distribution systems to end-use.

Before EPEC, Nick served as the Senior Vice President at Kema responsible for Electric Transmission and Distribution Systems in the Americas. He also held senior leadership positions at various companies including Westinghouse and EPRI, where he was a Westinghouse Fellow and Senior Technical Executive, respectively, the highest technical positions at those companies.

Nick received a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the American University of Beirut, a Master of Science in Power Engineering from the University of Missouri, and completed all course work for Doctorate of Philosophy from Carnegie Mellon University.

Professionally, Nick served as the General Chair and Technical Program Coordinator for the 2012 IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) General Meeting. He served as the Chair Local Organizing Committee for the 2014 IEEE Safety Conference and has been the Chair of the IEEE PES and PELS in San Diego for the last six years.

Nick has authored over 80 publications on a diverse subjects related to power systems, has two patents and is a Professional Registered Engineer in California. He is the winner of several top industry awards.
